Renewable Energy

Investigations were carried out as to how community buildings in the local area could benefit from the current opportunities available for renewable energy generation.

The Senior Low Carbon Officer from Durham County Council visited centres in the area and carried out simple assessments, recommending which types of renewable technologies would be suitable and then providing centres with contacts of local companies where they could get quotations for installation.

The centres were assisted with funding advice once they had received their assessment and quotations. Several centres, mainly in Newton Aycliffe, worked towards having solar panels installed.
